January Stamp Club: Mosaics Photo Tuturial

Happy New Year!  Happy New Stamp Club!  We are doing the Mosaic Technique for this month's club project.

You need something to stick all your "strips" down with.  Here I've used 8 1/2 x 11 White Shipping Labels from Staples.  You can you use Xyron adhesive or even carpet tape.  Carpet Tape can be found in the hardware store, comes in varying widths, and is double sided.

If you use Xyron adhesive, roll a sheet of thin printer paper through the Xyron machine.  Use the sticky side for this project.

The shipping labels come in 8 1/2 x 11 sheets.

To make it easier to work with, I cut the sheet in half.

Peel the backing paper off.
Place the shipping label sticky side up.

Gather your strips.  These could be DSP you cut up just for this purpose.  Or, it can be left over pieces of DSP that you been saving.  You know--all those pieces of DSP you've been saving FOREVER just in case!

All the things you stamp, and they just do not come out the way  you envisioned--do not throw them away.  Save them to cut up for this project.  When those "boo-boos" are cut into little strips, you will never see the mistakes.

Place your strips on the sticky paper in a diagonal pattern.

Once your sticky paper is covered, cut to card size.

Card sizes:
8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded in half.
Middle layer is 5 1/4 x 4
Mosaic layer is 5 x 3 3/4.

Add to the front of your card, and embellish as desired.

Supplies used:
Tag Talk Stamp Set
Chocolate Chip Cardstock and Ink
Rhinestones
Bracket Label Punch
Naturals White Cardstock
Various strips of DSP (all retired)

Get out those scraps and left over pieces of DSP.  Save those mess ups for the Mosaic technique. Happy Creating!  Bye for now, Maria

January Stamp Club: Happy Watercolor & Pleasant Poppies

Do your ever have that moment when you're stamping, or creating, and you really like the results?  That's how I feel about this card--so much so that it was my swap for Leadership, and our project for January's Stamp Club.  When I first started stamping, we didn't have all the wonderful, fancy DSP like we do now!  Don't get me wrong--I love DSP, own most of it, and use it often!  We stamped or made our own backgrounds like in this card.

Supplies used:
Happy Watercolor, Pleasant Poppies stamp set
Champagne Glimmer paper
Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbon
Big Shot with Window Framelits, Polka Dots embossing folder
Real Red ink
Decorative Label Punch
Shop www.mariamitsdarfer.stampinup.net for these and other great products.

SU!'s background stamps are great since they fill up a standard size card (5 1/2 x 4 1/4).  Any stamp can be used for background--try stamping in a random all over pattern. Next time you create a card, try stamping your background!  Happy Stamping!  Bye for now, Maria

Valentine's Day Mini Scrapbook

Nothing says "i love you" like something handmade and personalized with photos.

The heart on the front wraps completly around the little book holding it together, and slides off when the you want to look inside.

January Stamp Club

Happy 2012! Here's to another year of stamping fun!  Since it's a new year, we've decided to get back to basics.  When I started stamping, there were no Big Shots, DSP or metallic paper (I painted my own card stock with metallic paint so my paper would be shimmery, lol--something I would never take the time to do today!).  Cards were much more simple--black ink pad, colored with Pastels (but, they were called chalks), and glitter was added for a little sparkle and shine with the 2-way glue pen.  Here's what we did today....
If you don't recognize the corner punch, it's because it's not a corner rounder.  The circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack was used to cut a notch off the corners.  Neat trick, huh?  Learned it at convention!  The Wild Wasabi is "lifted  up" with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Pastels are great because you don't have to color within the lines--whoever told us that anyway?  Where's the fun in that?  I give you permission to color outside the lines, lol!!! Stamping is supposed to be fun!!!  It's not brain surgery, and it's only paper.  Have fun with it!  Bye for now, Maria

Supplies used:  Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Rose Red Naturals White cardstock; Basic Black Classic Ink Pad;  Easy Events stamp set; 2 1/2" Circle, the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes, Small Heart Punches; Seam Binding Ribbon; Dazzling Diamonds Glitter; Two-way Glue Pen; Stampin' Pastels (Rose Red, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi); Stampin' Dimensionals.

January Stamp Club

Happy New Year (even though it's February)!!

Here's our project from January Stamp Club--sorry for the delay in posting!  Isn't it adorable?  The stamp set is Eat Chocolate from the Occassions Mini.  Stamp the "to do list" in Early Espresso on Whisper White (2 1/4" x 2").  Finish the edge with the Spiral Punch.  Punch one edge of Daffodil Delight cardstock (3 1/2" x 2 1/4") with one edge punched with the Eyelet Border.  Layer together.  Finish off by tying Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon before adding to the front of your Baja Breeze card base.   To make "chocolate", run Early Espresso cardstock through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Punch out with Circle Punch, and then Scallop Circle for "bite marks."  Add to card.

Here are some club swaps.  Paige made this one...

I made this one.  Use the the Island Blossom to die cut old vintage dictionary pages.  Layer several die cuts together and add a brad in the center to create a flower.  That's retired Ruby Red cardstock--can't believe I still had a few pieces of that in my scrap bin!

Debbie made this sparkley one.

Lisa made this 6x6 scrapbook page.

Frances made this one.

This is a Kim card.

Joan made this Winter Post collage.

And finally, Tina stamped this one.

Happy Stamping!  Until next time, Maria
